TWO categories, ONE route!
The plan for this year's run will be two main categories - "competitive" & "adventure". It is 14KMs of sheer adrenaline rush for BOTH categories. The difference you may ask? the carrot of course! Attractive CASH prizes for the "competitive" run and other prizes worth RM 36K for the "adventure" run. Entry fees vary for both categories of course.
Do share with us your views on the run concept and help us shape Trailblazer 2008!

What do you think of going green?
My Name is Mud
- Team Trailblazer
- The Genting Trailblazer is an annual a no-holds-barred sporting event that combines the adrenaline rush of adventure racing with the intensity of trail running. Contestants run in teams of two through an unpredictable course over three very different terrains; rugged jungle paths, asphalt stretches and muddy trails. Apart from the challenging natural landscape, teams will also be put through a gruelling man-made obstacle course that features, among other things, a massive mud pond. Staying clean is definitely not an option.

The explanation of the concept of competitive and adventure run on a single route explanation is pretty vague right now need more explanation, unless it's started at a different timing for each category it would be good.
Marshall at each checkpoint is a must to ensure it's a team event, only allowed to proceed when the team is complete, the previous run you could see the gap between each member. I was told by some of the runners, years before 2007 they were more strict on this rule.
I do hope there's reduction of small lane and large obstacles on the early section of the run and have it only in the middle or late run, in my experience of 2007 we have to wait for ages for our turn on the first huge fallen tree, with everyone still in highly energetic mode, lining up to cross is out of the question.
I still remember the near chaos with some runners impatiently shoving their way to the front and the crowd who were lining up all the while waiting for their turn nearly burst into argument with them.
Not sure if it's part of the plan to include sharp pebbles at the last section water pit, but I do not wish to have my shoe gone forever into the mud, so first thing comes to my mind is taking off my shoe and cross and it's painful with every steps.
Lastly, please provide more cleaning booths with higher water pressure, with so low pressure everyone is taking quite some time to clean up. By the time is my turn finish lining up, clean myself, the food stall have only leftovers and the Milo van is leaving the compound....... :(
Thanks. Looking forward for this.
both categories will have the same route, different cash prize... and ?? any other differences besides cash prize ? may be the route or level of difficulty ? can u explain further plz? thank you ! p.s. what happened 2d old trailblazer website.. that 1 is hotter than this 1
14km might be too much for those who is just wanting alittle bit of fun.
Last year i joined the mild category (8km) and that was tiring enough. Since the route was more climbing than running.
Alittle more detail about how challenging the route will be would be really helpful.
The 14km trail is very doable. Tough, but definitely an experience to remember. We hv trailblazers newbies that hv completed it last 3 years. An experience that they will remember - the thrill of completing what they started. A route less traveled, few dare to attempt!! Give it a go!
Your comments appreciated. Keep them coming. We will address the crucial issues highlighted and shower stalls will definitely top the agenda!!
The one-route proposal is an initiative in consultation with FTAAA to ensure we deliver
improved marshalling, especially in the thick of the jungle. We trust that newbies will find it a good challenge.
